ONIX AUDIO History

How we got here

3 Tony Brady , Adam Worsfold and Craig Hill ( 1 salesman & 2 engineers ) partnered in the mid 1984.  They knew music could be a whole bunch better if only it was played by a better amp. 2 of the founders Anthony Brady and Adam Worsfold designed and built such an amplifier using a early design from the archives of a vault at Thorn EMI, where they both served as apprentice electronic design engineers.

They used parts they had ( oops Thorn EMI had) with musicality  being the founding principle of everything they did. Once it was perfected  they needed a sales outlet, Brighton HiFi was a shop in the seaside town of the same name, and Craig Hill ran the shop with his father . ONIX AUDIO was born and history was made . 3 guys and ONIX AUDIO  set the rules and others followed .

The first real product ONIX Made is the now classic and iconic OA21 . It was a unique shoe box size and it took the world by storm, with many others copying our format through the years. It was an remains unique .

We sold it to enthusiastic dealers. and people that loved the music  . Magazines loved it , our first review was with “The flat response “and even today OA21s Amps are cherished  by all that still have them . The OA21 evolved and got better and better from 1984 to the final ones in 1991 . Today the spirit of OA21  lives on with our Founder,  becoming the creator of the awesome and respected DNA range of amplifiers sold now in 2026 . Direct descendants of the OA21 from real DNA of ONIX AUDIO
