In 1984 Adam Worsfold, & Tony Brady started "ONIX AUDIO" in Brighton , England , UK . Onix and the distinctive "ONIX" logo used on the original products like the famous ONIX OA21 and ONIX OA21s to become a world known HIFi Company and brand . Adam Worsfold soon became the sole owner of ONIX AUDIO in 1985,  and from the start was very aware of intellectual property rights to the brand ONIX  . Adam Worsfold after becoming the 100% owner of ONIX AUDIO then immediately  registered the name " ONIX " worldwide in the UK for the very first time in 1987 - he did this in his personal name . It was granted as a full registered trade mark in 1988 in class 9 (Apparatus for recording , transmission or reproduction of sound or images , parts and fittings for all the aforesaid goods all included in Class 9)   CLICK HERE for the original TM Certificate in 1988

The Brand "ONIX" and it distinctive logo used in displaying the name from 1984 has been owned by Adam Worsfold  from 1985  . ONIX and OA21 with Adam Worsfold at the helm , has since allowed others to use it for license fees under strict conditions . This is reflected by its use by the Chinese Company in Shenzhen .

However in 2025 considerable  confusion about who owns the Brand has grown online. This confusion has been created by the company Shanling Digital Technology of China Dev Co LTD  and Absolute Sound Pty of Taiwan who seems to want to use it without rights to do so . Absolute Sound  a Taiwan retailer and its owner Mr Pu  falsely claim ONIX as theirs since 1996  this is falae  . The Chinese and Taiwanese owners of these companies try to steal and change our ONIX history to suit themselves.  They publish a history version on their websites and on social not based on truth or fact and has nothing to verify it in any way . They did not have any right to the name ONIX until 2021 and ever then thay have no right to the ONIX history or use of its original logo  . Anything made before 2021 by Shanling Digital of China must be considered fake . We own the logo, ONIX history, and all original designs  and they are not supposed to use any of it .

Fact is Shanling Digital of China  used the name ONIX  illegally from 1996 to 2021  Shanling are trying to change history a common misuse of our history created by us  CLICK HERE for the legal docs to verify  the facts 

Shanling of China made products using the name ONIX and had no right to do so between 1996 to 2021  , as such they must be considered fake products during this period   .  Shanling  also claim our UK ONIX history as theirs - this is very misleading,  they have nothing to do with the UK company ONIX AUDIO, its our history with the original logo   - "NOTHING made in China with ONIX as brand on a product before 2021 was legally made using the ONIX name,  or legally made by Shanling Digital Technology of China and sold or promoted by Mr Pu of Absolute Sound in Taiwan   .. Up to 2021 they were using the brand ONIX illegally  without any legal right whatsoever . Shanling of China IS NOT "ONIX AUDIO UK or OA21 " and never have been . They are a Chinese company making OEM products for many companies and they are a mass producer , they are trying to fool their buyers they are Genuine ONIX products .  They are NOT Genuine ONIX  products.  They continually pretend to be ONIX AUDIO  this is false and always has been . 

 If Shanling of China  lie about its history,  and illegally use the name ONIX and  where they make it  ....

Enforcing Intellectual property theft - the reality below .

Legal action in China is a waste of money, even if we win,  Chinese Companies never pay and the nothing can make them pay , certainly not in China.  Shanling didn't pay last time we won in the UK  CLICK HERE .  They don't respect intellectual property  or worldwide design rights - they steal both with impunity .  We have lost count the times we have tried to enforce our rights against Chinese companies . Its futile and pointless. We must rely on people seeing the truth by checking our the whole picture  , and understanding integrity counts not internet hearsay or myth . Adam Worsfold spends a lot of time dealing with lies and posts that people post in some way to vent their own jealously  of our success.  The world suffers from this IP Theft , as great designers refuse to progress just to have China steal their work. This stalls progress so we all stop .  We encourage research and learning,  and reading documents to verify it , if in doubt  - We are proud of what we do, and documents prove the false history that most Chinese companies are complicit in creating  to sell you inferior products . Its a culture of deception we cant fix .

Chinese Companies  are well known to abuse intellectual property rights, they see nothing wrong with it  .
